  • Says "mama" or "dada" along with three other words (i.e. bye, more, baby)
  • Follows simple directions · Understands "no"
  • Responds to name
  • Imitates sounds or familiar words
Two Year Checklist
 
  • Understands simple questions and follows directions
  • Identifies 4-6 body parts
  • Combines 2-3 words when speaking (i.e. me go, more juice)
  • Names common pictures or objects
  • Has an expressive vocabulary of approximately 300 words
  • Able to attend to a task for 5-7 minutes
Three Year Checklist
 
  • Sentence length of 3-4 words
  • Expressive vocabulary of approximately 1000 words
  • Sings songs
  • Can tell a story or relay information
  • Can produce "m, n, ng, p, f, h, and w"
  • Attends to a task for 8-9 minutes
  • Asks "what" questions frequently
  • Can match primary colors and name at least one color
  • Follows directions and answers questions

If your child does not meet at least 3 of these items, it is recommended that he/she be seen by a speech language pathologist for a speech language evaluation.
